2017 Round-Up

December always gives us chance to reflect on the year gone by, and there’s a hell of a lot to look back on!

  • Over 100 events across 9 countries.
  • Over 50k miles driven by the SCD team and half a million combined supercar miles covered.
  • Over £35k raised for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice taking the total to date over £75k!

We already had 30 events under our belts by the time the season kicked off with our annual Secret Supercar Meet, where over 200 cars gathered on the Bruntingthorpe runway for a group photo on a bizarrely glorious day early in April, raising £13k for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. It was also our first chance to see the Bugatti Chiron in the flesh, alongside £50m worth of the world’s rarest supercars.

SCD members raised a further £22k at our Supercar Experience Event at Meadowhall, a chance for the public to get up close and personal with the cars, all for a good cause. Their generosity continued when we were contacted about Tilly, a young girl fighting Leukemia whose dream car is an Audi R8. As well as the R8, another 10 cars turned out to pick her up from school on her birthday, an unforgettable experience! Another highlight of the year for us was our Father’s Day special, Cars at the Castle, powered by WhitesPay, where over 100 SCD members enjoyed a scorching hot day at Belvoir Castle with locally sourced food, live music and activities.

The year continued with countless reasons to get out and use your cars as intended alongside like-minded people, with breakfast meets, visits, evening supercar suppers and morning drives across the country from West Sussex, The Cotswolds, South Wales, Cambridge, the Midlands, the Peak District, Forest of Bowland, Yorkshire Dales and much more!

Members had the chance to get their cars on track with free events at the likes of Donington, Goodwood and CarFest North as well as regular Supercar Days events at Blyton Park and our annual day at Anglesey which saw Oli Webb giving white-knuckle rides in SuperVettura’s Aston Martin Vulcan. We also had more access to than ever to the world of supercar manufacturing with factory tours at the likes of McLaren, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Ariel Motor Company.

Driving tours took SCD members around the most amazing roads of the French Riviera, Scotland, the Isle of Man and Italy and our relationship with Michelin brought about Michelin Exceptional Drives, taking in some of the countries best driving routes before ending at a Michelin-starred venue. Stay tuned as our 2018 driving tours calendar is bigger than ever, packed with exciting adventures across Europe and beyond.

2017 was quite a year which left no excuse to leave your car sat in the garage and 2018 already looks set to build upon that with lots of new venues to visit over the winter months, UK-based tours by popular demand, a better split of events throughout the country and more special events than ever before including a runway day and a day at the Top Gear test track.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and if you haven’t already, join us today to be part of the exciting year ahead!
